Can any ring be fitted with a Finger Mate hinged ring shank?

Finger Mate hinged shanks are available in a wide variety of styles and widths to accommodate almost any ring, starting at approximately $300.

What is it made of?

Finger Mate hinged shanks are made of 14K gold or platinum exclusively. No steel springs or other base metal is ever used in our shanks.

Is this something new?

If you've never heard about it before, of course it's new to you, but Finger Mate has been making hinged shanks since 1964! For over 11,000 fine Jewelers.

How does it work?

The unique, all 14K gold, catch and spring. (There is no base metal in our shanks)

The Finger Mate shank opens automatically when the ring is pulled from the top and locks closed when its sides are squeezed together. Its 2-position catch allows for a half-size adjustment when needed. There are no buttons to push, nor is there a dangling flap to engage. The special safety spring allows the shank to open 3 - 4 sizes, but prevents it from opening fully; securing the ring from loss if the catch is not locked.

Is it safe?

Absolutely! The two-position locking mechanism not only provides an extra margin of safety, but it also provides relief if the ring should become too tight on particularly hot or muggy days. Furthermore, a concealed spring prevents the ring from opening too far. There is always a continuous band surrounding the finger.

Is it Guaranteed?

All Finger Mate products come with an Exclusive Limited Warranty* on the Catch and Spring. It provides that should the Catch and Spring EVER fail, for any reason, it will be replaced for just a service charge.
